Determined to Stand for the Family

Living for Jesus emboldens us to shine as a light in the midst of a dark culture by building exceptional marriages and raising godly children, thus leaving a lasting legacy.

In His Sermon on the Mount Jesus referred to His disciples as the “light of the world” which He instructed to shine before all men for God’s glory. With this imagery, Jesus says that those who follow Him must be so different from the world around them that they boldly stand out just as light does in the darkness. In the midst of the world we live in today, the arena of families is one such place where Christ’s disciples must shine the brightest.

Throughout this world the bonds holding together family relationships are constantly being stretched, often to the point of breaking. Husbands and wives pursuing their own ambitions drift apart. Fathers focusing on their own agendas become disengaged from their children. And as a result, the enemy has become quite successful in preventing families from being powerful armies within the Kingdom of God.

But God has given MCC a special desire to do whatever possible to take a stand for the family. So as you continue to get to know this body of believers, you are sure to notice that strengthening and unifying families is extremely important to us.

To help improve the quality of families and to increase their effectiveness in God’s Kingdom, you will find that we...

  • Encourage families to engage in worship together at home, while “out and about”, in a small group, and in a corporate setting such as Sunday morning. (See Deuteronomy 6:4-9)
  • Offer a variety of helpful classes to strengthen marriages and parental relationships.
  • Challenge families to participate in discipleship programs together.

We believe that as families are developed into strong, godly armies, they will be able to successfully combat Satan’s attacks and victoriously stand for Christ for generations to come. Certainly it is worth taking a stand for such an endeavor!

  • “Another thing you do: You flood the Lord’s altar with tears. You weep and wail because he no longer pays attention to your offerings or accepts them with pleasure from your hands. You ask, ‘Why?’ It is because the Lord is acting as the witness between you and the wife of your youth, because you have broken faith with her, though she is your partner, the wife of your marriage covenant. Has not the Lord made them one? In flesh and spirit they are his. And why one? Because he was seeking godly offspring. So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith with the wife of your youth.” - Malachi 2:13-15
